COURSE OVERVIEW

Code180 helps absolute beginners learn the fundamentals of web development and computer programming in 180 minutes. The workshop focuses on the eight elements common to all programming langauges, and uses web development and javascript as a vehicle for teaching these broader programming principles. Workshop participants develop and deploy to the web their own mobile web application. A Certificate of Completion is awarded at the end of the workshop.

Do I need any prior coding experience?
Code180 is designed for absolute beginners. You do not need any prior coding experience.
Do I need a particular type of computer?
Any standard PC or Mac will work great. Chromebooks, however, will not work for the course. (Chromebooks are not suitable because the course requires students to download and install Sublime Text, a free, industry-standard code editor.)
Will I need to download anything onto my computer?
You will need to have the Google Chrome web browser downloaded and installed on your computer for the workshop. You will also need to download and install a free, industry-standard code editor called Sublime Text from www.sublimetext.com.
How long will it take me to complete the course?
Code180 is designed to be completed in 180 minutes. You can do this in a single session or multiple sessions; whatever works best for you. The online course allows for as much time as you need to understand the content and complete the web development project.
Can I view the course on my phone?
Yes. The Code180 Workshop is mobile-friendly and works great on your phone. Hands-on coding portions of the workshop will need to be completed on your computer.
What programming language will I learn?
Code180 focuses on the eight elements common to all programming languages. Code180 uses web development and javascript for teaching broader programming principles.
Is their an age requirement?
Code180 is designed for participants ages 16 and up.
